WAS - PVD on the Northeast Regional

Not my first time. It just always seems to happen. As for those toasters, I'm just going to guess that at least one was a deadhead and/or broken down. After all, one AEM-7 is enough to pull that entire train about 30% faster than it already goes down the NEC.

Empire Builder or California Zephyr to West Coast

I'd say the westbound from Chicago to Emeryville (San Francisco) is nicer. The best scenery is around Denver, and you get to see it in the daytime heading west. On the eastbound, it's fairly dark when you reach that area. Just my two cents, though. Any other questions? EDIT: Clarity.

MN-WA-CA-IL-MN!!! first time on amtrak and alone.

If you're going to opt for a sleeper, do it on the WA-CA Coast Starlight. The views out of the right side of the train are spectacular--Puget Sound, Mt. Rainer, Mt. Hood, California Wine Country, and the Pacific Ocean. In some places the water is literally ten feet away from the train! You also...

WAS - PVD on the Northeast Regional

Whoops, wasn't logged in for that last post. We're now sitting in New York Penn on track 12. It's a sold-out train, and we're right across the platform from the southbound Crescent, which has not one, not two, but three AEM-7s on the front...I don't even. The ride has been fairly smooth, and...

Houston to Ft Lauderdale via Chicago and Boston

Nice report. I do think they should spruce up the lounge cars, and customize them for each route. The one time I did the Starlight a few years back it was in a sleeper, so naturally I spent pretty much all my time in the PPC. It was nice, but of course it's sad that they're only on that one...

    NOL-CHI-NOL on 58/59

Well, the CONO is usually fairly on time. Glad you had a nice trip, though! :D Which also reminds me, was there a CCC on your train? I hate those things.

WAS - PVD on the Northeast Regional

No, I prefer Amtrak. Don't tell anyone, but I get dizzy and throw up every time I use the TARDIS. But just between you, me, and the wall, right? ^_^

WAS - PVD on the Northeast Regional

Alright, so I'm new here, but have been riding Amtrak since 2006. Yesterday I took (yet another) trip on the Northeast Regional (specifically train 176) from Washington Union Station to Providence. Being Amtrak, it didn't go without a few hitches. Since I had already checked the timetable the...
