    Changes to Capitol Limited/Texas Eagle

I am pretty mobile, I place my garment back on top of my wheeled suitcase 🧳 and can easily move about even when it is heavy. I took the time to look at a map in detail. Looks like there are sidewalks on those streets, seems accessible walking with a rolling suitcase. Thank you to everyone who...

    Changes to Capitol Limited/Texas Eagle

Is there a way to get to the Union Station Hotel by walking (with luggage) from the Gateway Amtrak station or do I get on the Metrolink? How did you do it? Thanks.

Question about electrical outlet in Superliner Bedroom

I see... I was thinking Superliner Roomette, which only has 1 outlet . You got me excited thinking there is a secret additional 2nd outlet in a Superliner Roomette that I didn’t know of.

Amtrak asks a passenger to move ...

Yes, it was stated she was getting off at Baltimore, so yes, that is certainly in her favor. I feel most of us here on the forum can relate to Amtrak staff sometimes not being the nicest when interacting with passengers.

Amtrak asks a passenger to move ...

I actually can relate to both (LookingGlassTie, SarahZ) of your comments, both for and against Mr. Sherrilyn twitter broadcast. LookingGlassTie: If she would have complained in writing later on her professional 24lb watermarked business stationary to Amtrak, it would have certainly raised an...

Amtrak asks a passenger to move ...

Hello Everyone. :) A few observations: 1. Those of us who travel frequently on Amtrak know that sometimes conductors group passengers together based on their destinations, and it looks like that was the case here. But... the explanation of "other people coming who she wants to give this...

America’s Lost Railroad Cuisine - A Newly Digitized Menu Collection

Thank you for the historic info... There are other great collections at Northwestern, not just menus, will be looking at the following this evening: Streamliner Passenger Trains https://digitalcollections.library.northwestern.edu/items/bf0962fe-9766-4e6d-a85a-6e8a682e1d8d

America’s Lost Railroad Cuisine - A Newly Digitized Menu Collection

I have been enjoying looking at the old menus. I have noticed on some menus it specifically states "employees are not permitted to serve verbal orders" . Anyone know why? For example: https://digitalcollections.library.northwestern.edu/items/c63b273c-b8c1-49af-865c-f386977e0033

    Share a Coke with...Amtrak

Interesting question, perhaps. I guess the important question would be "is Amtrak currently selling Pepsi products at a loss?"

Ann Arbor Station and Gandy Dancer Restaurant

Hello Everyone, In October, we plan to travel on the Wolverine from Ann Arbor to Chicago on train 355, 7:42 pm departure. Have any of you dined at the Gandy Dancer while you waited for your train? We will be allowed to bring our luggage inside the restaurant (do they have a place to put our...

    Newbie traveling LFT - LAUS

Alright, good to see your family onboard now on #1, easier to play games on the train than on a bus. Hope your bus transfer was good though.

    Sunset Ltd. #2 (8/04) 14+ HRS Late in W.Texas

So, seems like train 2 (8/4) was terminated at San Antonio according to the following link. (Or maybe Houston, the table times are inconsistent with the graphical map on the same page). https://asm.transitdocs.com/train/2019/8/4/2

    Newbie traveling LFT - LAUS

Sometimes the bus is Greyhound, sometimes charter bus. It all depends what is available on short notice when it is due to a "service disruption". You may want to stop by the train station early or the day before and ask "in person" how much carry on stuff (with your food) will be permitted...

    Newbie traveling LFT - LAUS

The per bag charge of $10 is regardless of size from what I remember. The trip I mentioned above, the little ones were about 3 and 4, but they were able to carry small child travel bags. You should definitely be ok with 9 and 12 year olds, especially since your family has experience camping...

    Newbie traveling LFT - LAUS

Hello Lindsay. Having myself traveled with 4 in our party (2 adults, 2 small children), it was challenging in our experience to be able to move all our luggage / bags on our own (we were in sleeping though). If I may suggest, you can save some money bringing your own water, sodas and small...

Amtrak Superliner Roomette vs Family Bedroom

Yes, I have used Amsnag for years. I figured you used Amsnag to generate your chart. Many years ago, the strategy was to book as early as possible (11 months out) for the lowest price. But now, in my observation, sometimes the 11 month out fare is a higher bucket. The fares gradually falls...
