It is nice to know that there is a "plan" to get a redcap to the Flyaway stop. It sounds as though, as usual, the "plan" doesn't always seem to work. It may be less of a hassle to just catch SuperShuttle from the airport. I did see an offer of a "execu car" for @$45 .. less stress and drop...

I like to memorize the 2 stops before I am to get off ... then I know how much time I have to get ready before my stop. The time between stations, that is listed on the timetable, gives you a good indication of the time you have left. Have a great trip!

Another vote for 2 roomettes. We have done the CS 7+ times. The first time was the bedroom, but from then on 2 roomettes. This way no one needs to sleep on the top bunk ... no climbing! As said, you have views from both sides of the train, but can still sit together when you like. The shower...

We arrived and departed on Amtrak into WAS a few years back. We stayed at the Hampton Inn, which if I remember correctly, was on the same street at Amtrak ... towards the center of the city. We took at $12 cab to and from WAS to the hotel. We caught the city bus, which had 2 stops nearby, or...

Just wanted to add a comment ..... The last time we rode the CZ we arrived at the Ferry Building location at 230 AM. Everyone's luggage was taken out of the bus, and put on the curb, as -- of course -- the station was closed and no one was there. We were alright, as my sister was waiting for...

One of the most memorable sights I have ever seen is the "Mothball Fleet" at Suisun Bay .... it gives me goose bumps every time I ride by on the Coast Starlight.
