100,000 passengers stranded at Chinese train station

Beijing North is still larger than Guangzhou North, which only has 4 platforms. Beijing East has negligible influence in Beijing area, just like Guangzhou West. Recently they started to run Beijing-Yanjiao commuting trains from Beijing East, before that, most people don't know the existence of...

100,000 passengers stranded at Chinese train station

Guangzhou station is so small, and that's the end of everything. It's expansion project has started but won't finish until 2019. Guangzhou East is somewhat larger, but large portion of it is used for Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity trains, and Guangzhou-Hong Kong trains. It's also bypassed by...

100,000 passengers stranded at Chinese train station

First problem is at least two thirds of their equipment is not Guangzhou-based. Another problem is many trains are turned back almost immediately due to the small size of that station, making it very awful when inbound schedules arrive late. Also, I don't see any advantage of running...

100,000 passengers stranded at Chinese train station

It's not that hard. LD routes will likely to be running with 150 people on board one YZ car in one direction. However, on the reverse direction, it's easy to get a whole car for yourself. On corridors, peak normally occurs during other national holidays.Anyway, I used to go out a lot during...

100,000 passengers stranded at Chinese train station

Apparently, it's Guangzhou Railway (Group) Cooperation's own fault this time. They try to make all trains from that area to originate at Guangzhou, but are ill-prepared for large number of passengers due to delays caused by weather. If they made part of the schedules to originate at nearby...

    Expensive Viewliner Roomette

Crescent 19 is the first Amtrak train I've ever rode and it was an enjoyable trip. If you are lucky, you may be on one of the consists with dining car #8553, an ex-New York Central car built in 1948

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

GLI is surely a magic business, always giving me surprises. Weeks ago I booked schedule 3924 for Baltimore at the date Mar 4, 2016. The website said the bus is scheduled to leave Charlottesville at 5:05pm. And by cross checking with their timetable on extranet, this time is correct. Guess what...

    question on through way bus

Buying thruway tickets alone without Amtrak trains is not a good idea especially the carrier is GLI. If you buy directly from GLI sometimes the price is cheaper. GLI also has a loyalty program but offers no benefit to people other than frequent travelers or commuters.

    Amtrak Dash 8-32BWH

This thanksgiving day I observed #514 on Crescent 20/19 along with P42 #156 This photo was taken at Charlottesville on that morning, it's the northbound 20 https://www.flickr.com/gp/138022528@N08/D2Cp1d And this is the southbound 19 that night at Charlottesville...

Crashes and near-misses - have you seen one?

A common solution to this problem is to have a crossing attendant at busy crossings, who will display the signal and lower the bar well beyond the train's arrival. More importantly, call the engineer to have a emergency stop if anything happened that may result in a crash. Last year I took this...

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

Question about GLI bus tracker. If GLI is operating more than one bus for an overbooked schedule, which bus will be shown on the tracker? For example today's 1529. Also, which bus should I board if there are two buses for one schedule, do I have an option to avoid one I don't like and board the...

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

And strange enough, B32-8 #514 is used on that train too. First time to see a Amtrak loco other than P42 in Charlottesville. https://www.flickr.com/gp/138022528@N08/PwQGJ8

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

Just now the bus driver made an announcement that we are going to stop to refuel and would never make it with what we have. And he told me it's ok to take pictures of his bus. 86022 refueling at Orange,VA. https://www.flickr.com/gp/138022528@N08/BYu944

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

Too bad today's Charlottesville-Baltimore 3924 is a 2009 X3-45 (86022) and the seats are truly pieces of ****. The driver shouted at several guys who failed to put their luggage in the right compartment, and made an announcement later stating that the noise of bus engine made him do that and...

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

It is also true that security measures of Amtrak are far from enough too. Even if security checks are implemented at all facilities, it's clear that most roads are not protected at all, meaning a terrorist can easily put a mine under the track and blow it up when a train comes. The only thing...

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

If they have security concerns, the first things to do is to set up security screening for boarding or just for the entrance of the station In addition, armed guards. People's Armed Police Corp(China's National Guard) at a Chinese railway station https://www.flickr.com/gp/138022528@N08/7tJ2bf

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

Do they ban people photographing their bus? I have took decent amount of pictures at their terminals at both C'ville and Richmond for anything I am interested in, and I met no opposition. I walked in their garage at Richmond, taking pictures of each bus in it, and some of their employees saw me...

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

Did you see the video on American Seating's website about the safety advantages of Premiers over normal seats? Poor DL3 destroyed in that crash test. Also, Greyhound's CEO appeared in that video saying stupid stuffs. That makes me think there must be something behind the scene.

    Greyhound seats and fleet questions

Speaking of Bolt bus, is the fleet roaster on Wikipedia accurate? Did you edit that to include the seats on them? Texas DMV certainly wouldn't have that information. I sensed your hatred... Bolt bus's mobile app is entirely the same as Greyhound's except the color. Their website is exactly the...
