I received letters for both the fee and no fee cards even though I cancelled the fee version a couple months ago. So I assume I will still be sent both cards. Are we confident that all purchases between now and October 23 will earn AGR points?
From the FAQ: "Please keep using your current Amtrak Guest Rewards Mastercard for your purchases until 12 p.m. CT. on October 23, 2022." Is that just a request or does it imply that we'll earn points until October 23?
Since the pandemic, American, Delta, and United all allow redeposit of miles from cancelled flights without a fee or penalty. Southwest has never had a fee or penalty. So Amtrak is now tougher than all of the major airlines.
Speaking of Thruway connections, I was shocked to see that Virginia Beach's connection is now to the 6am train from Norfolk instead of the longstanding connection with 94. Not many vacationers want to end their holiday with a 5am bus. Surely the same bus could make a second weekday morning...
The Norfolk train initially left NFK around 5am and was later pushed back by about an hour. I was surprised that the March 4 changes didn't result in Norfolk trains at 5 and 9am and a Newport News train at about 6am. That would have made things at bit better (or at least less bad) for Newport...
The current schedule has 5 northbound/4 southbound regionals from/thru RVR on Saturdays, 5 southbound/4 northbound on Sundays. I don't see an extra train north of RVR. Virginia Beach seems to lose much of its thruway service with these changes.
There currently is one less southbound train to Richmond on Saturday evening and one fewer northbound on Sunday morning I don't think a train set sits idle at RVR all weekend.
