I would gladly pay the cost of upgrade to get off the train first. Even though you still have to wait for your checked luggage to be removed into the station at Vancouver, Priority Disembarkation gets you off the train and into the station ahead of a train full of coach class, and not having to...

PS...Which cruise ship are you going on? Are you returning to Vancouver? If so I highly recommed NOT taking the Amtrak bus back to Seattle.

I have done this trip (Seattle to Vancouver R/T) several times and it is GREAT! I personally feel that the Cascades is the best train in Amtrak's fleet. If you have luggage arrive at the Seattle station 1 hour before departure. Ask for a seat on the left side. The bistro onboard is the nicest...

Not to scare you off, but this was from last year in Raleigh when the 'Carolinian' hit a dump truck that did not get out of the way quick enough...crazy driver. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?...1fc87c10b8f42d4 I was on the N/B Carolinian the 3 days later!!!

Typical consist of the 'Carolinian' is a P42, baggage car, an Amfleet II coach serving as the Business Class car, an Amcafe, and 3 Amfleet I coaches.

PS...there is a complete change of train staff Northbound in Raleigh for some odd reason, and they ask you to show your train ticket stub and ID, again, even if you just boarded at the last stop or in Charlotte. A real nuisance if you ask me. <_<

I live in Salisbury and have done this trip a multitude of times to Philly, DC, and NYC. If not for anything else do the upgrade simply for the extra leg room. The comp soft drink/water and newspaper are nice, and the fact that there are a lot less kids and families makes it worth it. The...
