My 2 cents is that with the current carry-on allowances being greater for sleepers on Amtrak than VIA, I'm not sure if I'm ever going to take it all the way from Toronto to Vancouver or vice versa. I have medical issues that mean I needed every bit of Amtrak's generous in cabin luggage...
I just checked for 5/29 and the Borealis came in at $41 for coach and the EB at $77, business on the Borealis was $98, but as bookings increase this will no doubt change.
In the '70s when there was a train or two per day, and I took it several times per year, I remember the station as being fairly busy. I don't remember ever being late or even cutting it close, but I have recurrent nightmares about missing that darn train, still after all these decades.
We've discussed this previously, but to recap - the train is just barely stopping 'in Saskatoon' now. When the freight yards were removed from the middle of town in the mid-60s the passenger service went with them to Chappel Yards on the very SW edge of town. If anything, street changes and...

Given the FRA LD proposals that just came out, that seems ill-advised and unlikely. but the article was presumably written before that announcement and the latest STB hearing and who is this guy anyways?
I love my superliners, but I don't know that it's a given that they are buying bi-levels to replace them. And I'm ok if they don't as long as whatever they buy is good and holds up well.
For the reasons mentioned above and because they largely run on track owned by freight railroads who don't need to go that fast and therefore don't build and maintain their track to support faster speeds even where grades and curves (or the lack of) would allow it. Higher grade tracks are...
