I'm on 50/5 to oakland in 3 weeks. i'm counting down the days as well. I can even hear the train's horn in the middle of the night like it is calling me to come and go for a ride.
Normally I don't hear the horn because it id quite a ways off.

I do too during the summer when at camp. I happens at least 3 times during the night and I can tell a few minutes before it happens because the trains need to climb uphill first and the strain of the engine can be heard. I guess I'm already hooked then-& I haven't even got on the train yet! I monitor the cz & cs arrivals whenever possible, & can hear the cz arrive most of the time at night. When I eventually move I'll be able to hear it from that location also and then it will be year round!
