Didn't get much details from my conductor friend, but apparently the locomotive AMTK 115 which was on 48 due into New York today had chunks of wheels missing.

What do they do in this situation?

That question can be seen more than one way. From the standpoint of 115, the axle with the bad wheel gets changed. from the standpoint of 48, you set off 115, and put on a different unit. You need a passenger unit to provide HEP. At Albany, you would change to a P32-DM anyway, that might be what gets sent for rescue if available.

Service Disruption? It shows expected arrival in Albany 3hrs 58min late. So they must have found a solution to the problem. Though it is still stationary somewhere between Cleveland and Erie as of 10:35 EST.
