Little off topic/forum question for you, my apologies but you New Yorkers will understand!

Taking CZ to Reno in mid-march have time to kill on the day of arrival before flying on to Phoenix. So.......where do you go for a good pastrami sandwich?? With all the casinos there....I'm thinking/hoping!

Currently living in Memphis, love it here but only some much catfish and ribs you can do! Right now I'm thinking the only thing better than than a few nights on the train is a few nights on the train and a good pastrami sandwich for dessert!

Recommendations please??? Get back on the train and head for New York doesn't count!

Thanks.

Reno has several Casinos downtown, Circus Circus, Harrahs etc but has fallen on hard times! Virginia Avenue ( Circus Circus is located on it in the 300 Block) has several Delis in the 600 Block, but I haven't eaten there since the Casinos ( only real reason to go to Reno) all have food available! I had a good Ruben @ Harrahs several years ago!

Google up Delis in Reno and check the travel sights, probably can find something edible! My guess is that the Phoenix Area will have much better Deli food since so many people have moved/retired there from the NE!!

Manhattan Deli at the Atlantis, about 3 miles south of downtown on Virginia St, makes a good corned beef sandwich; I'd expect their pastrami to be good as well.

Another option that I can vouch for the general quality of is Newman's Deli at California Ave and Virginia St; they offer a "mile high" pastrami sandwich. In glorious Reno style, it shares a parking lot with a, uh, "gentleman's" club.

Pastrami sandwich ? I don't have a recommendatation (sp?) for you...

As a fairly frequent visitor to Reno, I do have a 'buffet' recommendation for you...

The Eldorado Hotel, Resort, Casino...

http://www.eldoradoreno.com/reno-restaurants/the-buffet/

The hotel, casino is about a two block walk from the Amtrak station in Reno.

You are scheduled to arrive in Reno at 8:30 am, the breakfast buffet runs until 11 am, cost is $ 10.

Yummmmmmm...
