Southbound Tri-Rail 607 struck a vehicle at Cypress Creek Rd. (between Pompano Beach & Fort Lauderdale) at 0700 am this morning. Northbound 98(14) was delayed approximately 2 1/2 hours, most of that time spent standing in the station at FTL. Tri-Rail established a bus bridge between Pompano Beach & FTL stations.

Authorities confirmed that the occupant of the vehicle was fatally injured. There were no injuries reported to the Tri-Rail train's crew or pax.

One crossing gate mechanism at the crossing was destroyed in the accident, and all trains will have to stop and flag themselves over the crossing until the mechanism is replaced.

98(14) reported by DLB 2 hr 14 min late at 1144 am.
