First up: the Superliner Is from when they were originally delivered in 1981~.

Took me a while to do this, and there was a little "interpretation" involved due to the drawings I was using as a baseline being done in the pre-CAD era and not always being perfectly flat due to distortions from scanner or printing/binding.

Sharp eyed people may notice that there is a piano in the Lounge/Cafe.

looks pretty good. I have the same MR drawings which I've used to make models of them for Trainz, although none have ever really gotten finished...

Love the Drawings.... but I do have a question.... Sunset Limited??? Nos. 3 & 4 Thought that is the Southwest Chief??? I am new to trains just wanted to make sure.

The big problem is that the drawings in model railroader are not properly dimensioned -- if they were, they'd be showing lengths and distances for certain things like the distance from the wall to the seats independently of what the drawing may show.

Also, they are from what a superliner looked like THEN in 1982. Not what they are NOW.

(and yes, I tried to model some stuff in Trainz using MR plans long ago....)

BTW, here is a photo of the electric piano from that issue:

You are correct, although in 1982 it was called the Southwest Limited.

Slight update.

Revised my earlier 1982 drawing to 1.1:

And created a new set of drawings:

http://www.alternatewars.com/Reference_Modern_Superliner_Floorplans.png

So far we've got Superliner II coach circa 1997 and the Superliner II Transition Sleeper (aka Crew Car).

Both drawings are not up to my usual standard of accuracy due to them being created from non-scale drawings found at http://www.craigmashburn.com/amtrakcardiagrams.html

But even these should give you an idea of what they're like.
