I'm thinking that this route won't work, at least as far as Guest Rewards are concerned, because the second leg of the trip is leaving 7/5, a blackout date. The other parts should be okay, though. Is that correct?

I was surprised to see that 7/4 wasn't a blackout date. I tried to avoid that one and figured the dates around it would be safe, but they weren't. I guess they figure more people will be traveling to or from their destination around 7/4 instead of on that date itself. Oh well.

If you have to board a train or bus on a blackout date (either origination or connection), you can not use an award. However, if you are on the train but do not need to connect, that is permitted.

Example - You board the SWC in CHI to LAX on 7/4 (not a blackout date). You pass thru ABQ on 7/5 (a blackout date). Since you do not have to connect in ABQ since you're going to LAX, that is permitted!
