A few short trips I've done is ESX-WAB or SAB-ESX on the Vermonter, and for points I've done ARD-PHL on the Keystone and NYP-NWK on a Regional (my last HHP-8 train!)

Glenview to Chicago (17 miles) and Milwaukee AIrport to Milwaukee (8 miles) are regular runs for me to maintain Select Plus with AGR.

The shortest would probably have to be the recent trip I did from San Diego to San Diego-Old Town. Bought a ticket to Solana, but hopped at Old Town with conductor approval... took Amtrak instead of Coaster for the AGR points.

So short you had to tell us twice so that we didn't miss it. :giggle:
In the time he took to make that double post you could have done that round trip four times :giggle: .

Shortest trip I ever did on Amtrak was many years ago, when you could ride the Keystone line between PHL and PHS (Suburban Station). Well under a mile...probably even shorter than BOS and BBY....

I don't know if you could 'book' that trip...the ride was free (as it is now on SEPTA), if you were connecting to another Amtrak train at PHL. They would 'honor' your ticket stub for passage, if they even collected tickets on that segment. I believe that if they did, and you did not have any ticket, they would charge you some fare (plus a penalty?), which could be very costly for such a short trip.... :)
