I can see that the track that Amtrak just ran is lightly used while the other track where the MOW is is heavily used by looking at the rust.

Nice picture Terry!

My impression is that rail line is fairly busy given CSX, MARC (commuter rail) and Amtrak traffic. It could be one track is used moreso than the other, however.

Both tracks get used about the same amount. Track 2 that has the MOW equiptment on it, normally carries the loaded coal trains. I think its just the lighting and angle that I took the shot that makes track# 1 look rusty.
