Hey everyone,

wondering if anyone has been to the temporary station in Denver? Does anyone know what the parking situation is for the temp station, is there parking next to it?

Get to travel by train next month, yahooo! After having to turn in my tickets for a refund a few months ago, I just knew I would never get to travel on Amtrak again. I'm such a whiner and cry baby

I was there a couple of weeks ago. I flew in from Fla. so I took a cab. However, I noticed a very small parking area next to the station & the area, including station is fenced.

Have fun!

I hear they will have crossing guards to escort passenger across the road from the station to the platform.

I was on the westbound CZ last week between Chicago and Salt Lake City. I got off at Denver for a look. There is a single passenger platform with canopy, which is parallel to a street. To reach the station, there is a crosswalk with a traffic signal and I do believe employees were assisting passengers. The parking area did look rather small. The building itself, which had only been open a few weeks, was fairly nice with a good sized waiting room. An attempt was made to give it a little decor with arches painted on the walls to give the impression of a grand old station

Thanks for the replies. I will be seeing it in person not too long from now.

I will be getting a ride down to the station for my trip. Don't want to mess with parking.

I think I might have posted this before. I like change, I like new but I hope they don't mess up the old station. I took several pics of her when I went to pick up my last tickets. I only had my cell phone camera but, pics turned out alright, at least I have some.

Briefly what is the construction project at Denver Union Station necessitating a temp station?

Very briefly: The local transit agency is overhauling/reconfiguring the station to accommodate new and expanded light rail and commuter rail lines.

"Approximately 15 short-term parking spaces are available at the lot on the east side of the [temporary] station for passenger pick-up and drop-off."

Are there any relatively fast-food options around the temp Denver station? I believe we have a 50 minute stop there on our way out to Grand Junction. Thought we'd hop off, take a quick walk and maybe grab some breakfast. Time? Anything close by?

Here are a couple pics of #5 sitting in Denver. I didn't think to take a picture of the station across the street. The green fence surround the station is now gone.

Not that I could see! Your best bet for breakfast would be the Train!

That looks better than a lot of permanent stations...

I believe the track and platform will become part of the "new" Denver Union Station, so it is, in effect, a "permanent" facility. The station is being remodeled to allow for the operation of an extensive commuter rail system which Denver is planning on implementing.

This will be track 7 in the new union station so the platform and track will be permanent. What will change is that in 2014, waiting and ticketing will return to the main station.

I wanted to pull this thread back up and post on the temp station in Denver. Apologies if I am repeating anything.

Ran down there this morning to change ticket. And the train was there!

It is a very nice station for being temporary. The chairs look comfortable, tv's for viewing. Quik-trak machine.

They have a soda machine, coffee machine(Wolfgang Puck's) and a vending machine full of snacks. Coin candy machines. Pump those kids up with sugar before getting on the train! :D

I'm surprised there wasn't some sort of food truck there.

Saw a red cap cart.

Taxi's available.

I'm not sure where you would park for long term. I could not see a pay lot.

Last thing, the ticket agent was very very nice, awesome to see!
