Checked baggage or shipping via Amtrak?

My family and I are traveling east from Reno, NV to Harrisburg, PA via CZ/CL/Pennsylvanian in the near future. I plan to rescue the family pram (stroller), disassemble and pack it up, and bring it back. Would it be easier to check it as baggage, or send via Amtrak shipping? Furthermore - the Pennsylvanian has no checked baggage - so would I have to carry-on everything and then check everything at Pittsburgh, or could I ship it from Harrisburg, PA?

Amtrak shipping is only available if check baggage service is also available. Since the Pennsylvanian does not offer it, then that option is not available. I would check it to Pittsburgh and on the return check it there.
