Best / Cheapest way to do SAS to LNS for 2?

First time rider here. Moving from TX to MI early summer & want to take the train up. I'm on a budget and will be going back & forth a few times, so I'm hoping for ideas / tips to save. We'd like to do a roomette but the price is ouch. I'm okay with coach, but a room would be nice so we could have some privacy & better sleep.

Ideas? Is there a way to do the bidup thing for this trip? Or would I need to split up the booking in order to do that? What would a likely price for a bidup be?

I would not rely on bid-ups if you really want a sleeper. There is only one sleeping car on the Eagle iAdditionally, the Eagle frequently runs late, placing the same-day connection to the Michigan train.
