Does this mean that room automatically includes one person?

Was looking at points required under new program. If I select room or roomette, do I also need to spend additional points for me or my companion? In other words, does the point charge for the room include both room and transport for me and companion?

Check rates and availability on Jan 23....if things look good you can cancel sell without penalty and rebook under new program the next dat...minimal risk.

There is also the risk the fare and the cost of roomette might be higher in January resulting potentially in higher point requirement. Do nothing right now.

The revised program injects a little bit more rationality into AGR. A certain number of travelers seek to construct the longest possible itinerary...days and miles...for the fewest possible number of points. This group will now have to pay for it or plan a more rational and direct itinerary.

I think I can live with the changes...perhaps it might require a little longer lead time to find best prices or forgoing holiday periods. Still I have a couple questions: 1.). Will the price used to calculate required points be based on fare AFTER any discounts like the senior discount? 2)...

Can we PLEASE stop all the credit card chit chat. If someone has new news about anew AGR credit card through Chase or any other bank, by all means post it. The endless stories about credit card fraud are not helpful.

Ispolkom....regarding Amex. If you read the term and condition on Amex cards you will see that Amex prohibits additional welcome bonus points on PERSONAL cards. Business cards are treated differently...they allow bonus again after waiting one year.

Hard to tell what might happen with any new bank...if there is a welcome bonus I assume there will be a minimum spend requirement. The prior requirement of $500 was pretty reasonable....but it could take months before amtrak negotiates a new marketing agreement for a new credit card
