What a difference 400 or so miles makes!

In the Bay Area, the majority of sports fans ride the rails (Amtrak, Cal Train, BART, and/or MUNI) to sporting events. These carriers even offer extra service to these venues.

Not so in Southern California. Edison Field even "sports" an Amtrak/Metrolink station ON its property. Granted, the Metrolink Orange County line does not operate on weekends.

Metrolink does run special trains to other events -- the Rose Parade, the Los Angeles County Fair, the California Motor Speedway -- but not to the others because there is no demand.

If there's a game in Anaheim for Angels and San Diego Padres. Sometimes, they'll bring people from San Diego to Anaheim on train. Sometimes it'll be Metrolink, Amtrak, or even San Diego Coasters. Clever way to bring people.

One more thing for Metrolink during the summer- beach train to either San Juan Capistrano or Clemente Pier(?) from San Bernardino/Riverside area. It's very popular B)
