UPDATE: California Zephyr Train 6 which departed Emeryville (EMY) on 10/20 is back on the move and currently operating approx 2 hr 40 min late.

What kind of a train inspection would last over 2 hours??

Saw this on FB from someone on the train.
“something about not being able to release the brake cylinder. I keep hearing guys talking through walkie talkies but no one seems to know how to fix it.”

Probably an issue with the air brakes. If one car has a problem it can affect the entire train. The crew may have been discussing "cutting out a car" which is cutting out the brake system for one car.... but there may have been a reason they couldn't do that either physically or legally (you can't cut out the last car of the train for example). All of that is just a guess on my part of course.
