I believe this was in 1993. I had a no-cost invitation to ride coast to coast on the (pre?)inaugural run.
I didn't because I had already planned vacation to travel extensively over VIA Rail East.
I did manage to get an inaugural packet. (See attachment.)
In 1996 I rode from central Florida to New Orleans.
