Hi! I am President of the Midwest Rail Rangers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization... and we are working with the owner of "Hollywood Beach" private car to organize a day-trip excursion down to Carbondale and back from Chicago Union Station on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Both sleeping car bedrooms and coach tickets are available. (Please note, I, nor the Rail Rangers have any personal gain from promoting this trip)... We are just hoping to get the word out here on Amtrak Unlimited before tickets sell out. This is going to be one of the few private car trips in the Chicago area this year due to the restrictions that Amtrak has put on private cars. You will get 16 hours on the private car... and even get the rare mileage of riding around the Carbondale "wye"... Day trip prices are $298/per person --- but the real cool option is to buy one of the four sleepers on the train. Not only do you have them for the day-trip -- you can sleep in the Chicago yard the night before or after the trip. $250 per person double occupancy on the rooms --- either June 7 or June 8 or both if you wanted.
