Last night I attended a presentation / book signing with Jim Lehrer. Many of you know him as the anchor for the PBS News Hour (formerly known as the News Hour with Jim Lehrer) which is on most PBS stations every weekday evening. Anyway, Jim is also a writer with 20 novels to his credit.

"Super" is a murder mystery set in the mid 1950's on the Santa Fe Super Chief. From a review:

...It's Lehrer in typically fine form: wonderful detail about railroad operations and life on the Super; small prairie towns that owed their existence to the Sante Fe...
Turns out that Jim Lehrer is quite the railfan. He grew up in Texas around trains and some of his novels are set on trains.

I asked Jim if he gets to ride trains anymore. He answered not as much as he would like and that the only trains he rides now are on the NE corridor between NYP and WAS.
