Here's how ridership on Amtrak trains on the Blue Water route through Flint has fared since the route was shortened and departures to Chicago moved up earlier in the day:
MAY: 7,760 riders, up 20.2 percent
JUNE: 9,034, up 43.8 percent
JULY: 10,853, up 36.8 percent
AUGUST: 10,405, up 22.8 percent

FLINT - There's a little less elbow room on Amtrak trains on the Blue Water route that runs through Flint, Lapeer and Durand since the route changed in April.
