Has there been any further information on restoring service to the central Gulf Coast, New Orleans-Mobile? There was a recent article in our local paper that Bay St. Louis, MS was rehabbing their depot for renewed service. I thought this strange, if not premature. Our congressional delegation has not made any mention of service renewal after information releases a year or more ago when various potential equipment usage and schedules were proposed. At that time everything I read, including Amtrak back stories, implied this was THE PLAN for 2020 implementation. Then silence....?

The writers of the Constitution assumed that our Government would be transparent. You remember: Of the People, For the People, and By the People. But this has become ridiculous. Everything that affects you and me is created in secret. Then all we hear is "Trust us. We're your government and we're here to help you."

I see no chance if this happening under Amtrak sponsorship.

But if the Casino Kingpins in Bay St. Louis want to start a privately-funded train, they might be able to sell the service to CSX.

Any of the class ones will be interested in the right circumstances for any passenger train. It usually boils down to if you have the money they have the time.
