I'm in Chicago now waiting for the westbound Chief in an hour and change. I keep seeing more heavy rain coming for Kansas and I keep asking Amtrak personnel if there's a chance of disruption. Of course the front liners really don't know anything but we haven't been cancelled or advised of any other plans as yet.

I read a report this morning hinting that the worst is yet to come for the midwest/plains/Mississippi watershed- although the flooding isn't expected to be as high as previous floods, it will be high. Enough along with articles about the lower reaches of the river that it has me fearing for the future of that region in it's current form.

No major issues getting through the flood plains of Kansas last night on 3. We were early into Kansas City and when I awoke this morning it appears we're about an hour behind. Not that bad, all things considered.
