The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), in cooperation with the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT), announced that the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Washington, D.C., to Richmond Southeast Higher Speed Rail Project, also known as DC2RVA, has been signed, completing the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) study process and making the project eligible to receive additional federal funding to advance project planning.

Nice. Now if they will actually fund the Long Bridge expansion/construction/renovation and the new trackage from the bridge, and to the south of DC, they will be moving in the right direction.

If the whole project including the overpasses is built then it will be very easy to 4 track the line from the intersection of the Va ave /Amtrak 1st ave tunnels - and Alexandria That gives Amtrak and VRE ability to add trains both on the CSX and NS lines.
