We off and on have discussions about the trials and travails of Eminent Domain in the US. From time to time an impression is given that US has this strong eminent domain law, better than anywhere else, that causes additional issues when compared to other lesser countries.

I though I'd give an example of a multi-year ongoing eminent domain litigation in India that is yet to be resolved. Meanwhile a significant link has been built as two segments on the two side of the point of contention, and service has been introduced on both segments awaiting resolution of the eminent domain issue so the link can be completed and through service started. This, when completed will be an electrified suburban link with mostly EMU operation linking two parts of the west side of the state of West Bengal that have hitherto not been linked together.
