An Amtrak press release announced their plans to make a series of "Travel Green" wrapped cars. The current plans include a P32AC-DM & an Acela. The scheme will consist of the same basic design as the current Phase V scheme with the Swoops being green instead of blue and the "Travel Green" logo on the sides.

As travelers' date=' we all realize that we need to get from point A to point B, but we'd like be able to get to our destination without ruining the earth. The good news: we can balance our travel needs and also mitigate our impact on the environment when we travel by rail. So leave your car at home, and let Amtrak get you where you need to go.
More than just a convenient way to travel, Amtrak is also energy efficient. Traveling by rail contributes less per passenger mile to greenhouse gas emissions than either cars or airplanes. According to U.S. Department of Energy data, Amtrak is almost 14 percent more efficient than domestic airline travel and 31 percent more efficient than auto travel on a per-passenger-mile basis.

To raise awareness of the fact that rail transportation is much greener then other forms of transportation we are announcing a series of "Travel Green" paint schemes for some of our trains. We are planning to paint an one of our Dual-mode GE P32AC-DM Genesis Locomotives into our special "Travel Green" schemes; as well as an Acela Consist.[/quote']

Wouldn't be a bad idea if that was a real press release and not a fake.

Green actually looks decent on that locomotive. Should I forward it to the Amtrak offices? :D

I have an NS design I keep dropping hints about (aka posting screenshots of) on their Facebook page. Maybe I should do the same for Amtrak. :D

Here is the 'green' P32 out in action:

and for those interested; the NS engine I mentioned:

PS; so yes, if you hadn't gathered by now. This is/was an April Fools joke. Although once I finish up my current Acela textures I might do a Green one as well...

you should have seen it with the brown background I was using earlier. Sadly I can't change the grass color or texture (nor the track), just the grey background color. That is until I put it into TRS, then I can have it's background be whatever I want it to be.
