Has anyone tried to use a Companion Coupon on the AT? I offered one to a person, she tried using it and was unable to. She actually called Amtrak and was told she couldn’t use it for the Auto Train. Is this correct?

So, you were in Monterey in early January. Good time to go as far as tourists/crowds etc.? Also, curious where you stayed while you were there, hotel, B&B? I have been trying to plan a trip there, traveling south from Seattle, basically to spend a couple of days at the Aquarium and hanging out...

I was tracking the progress of Train Jam on transitdocs, and zoomed in on its location about half way between Salt Lake City and Elko, and noticed this track configuration. Never noticed it before. Does anyone know if it is known by any distinctive name? Thanks!

If you miss your connection to the Starlight at LA and get bussed to Bakersfield and then to Sacramento via San Joaquin, you’ll miss a lot of what the CS has to offer. Why not leave a day earlier and “plan” on an overnight in LA? Just a thought.
