I have been on a train where we had to stop before we crossed because the signals were not working...conductor got out with flairs and stuff. That was on the MI Service.

I rode the dome car on the Hiawatha with my dad on Thanksgiving this year. It was great to share that experience with him and have something cool like that in the Midwest. I am thankful Amtrak does something like that out of the Chicago Hub.

I was on the CZ going to Princeton, a person is their 20's was hit by the CZ as they were trying to put a quarter on the track. The SWC was 10 minutes away or so, thus the delay for it. Happened outside of Oswego, IL.

If you want to use your phone instead of printing tickets, bring up the email Amtrak sent you and they can scan that.

They don't, you might be able to save them to your passbook if you have a iPhone.

If going south they normally lift tickets after SVT.

A cheaper parking option would to get on at SVT (Sturtavent), 30 day parking for a flat fee of $5, and not that far south of MKA. Down side is no luggage check :-( but a dollar cheaper ride and cheaper parking ;-) I use this station a lot for my long distance trips.

As long as I have a place in a sleeper I am happy :-).

It's normally pretty close to on time.
