I'm noticing this morning the 302 has four new bike racks in the cafe car. Booths were removed to make room. This is one of the cafes that lacked a restroom to begin with. Anyone know if this is going to be the standard?

I'm planning to backpack in the Yuma area and wonder if there are lockers, either at the station or nearby, that could be used to store luggage for a few days? Any help is appreciated.

I'm concerned this could mean more seatmates on the LD trains, where it's preferable to have both seats in order to sleep well. For some of us, sitting next to someone for hours on end is also draining. Not as much as driving, but enough. Some of us just need our space and don't have hundreds or...

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't referring to prepurchased 10-ride tickets or passes, and didn't realize each train number reset the trip as far as points earned. Therefore I needn't worry about it.

Is it acceptable to earn more points per multiride trip by scheduling each leg as a separate trip, e.g. BLN-CHI and CHI-MKE as separately booked trips?

Does Amtrak have any stations one can reasonably hike and camp from? Not drive to a campsite, not find a site with electricity or any other modern services, but actually backpack from the station itself to a natural site within 5-10 miles at most? If so, it's an adventure waiting to happen.

Sorcha, I don't have it that bad, but crowds do cause me to become hypoglycemic. On the CZ waiting to leave CHI now, I now know to avoid travel on weekends when students are returning from break.

Say what you will about the financial benefits of full trains, but one thing is certain: they're unpleasant for introverts. We need our space. Sitting next to someone for hours, especially with loud conversations in the background, is quite draining.
