Thank you for that! I grew up in that area and it was a trip seeing places I recognized.

Acela upgrades 1st Class Dining as of Summer Fall 2021

I haven't had the other omelet, so don't know. Spinach and tomato is more appealing to me so it's a shame it wasn't good. Coffee being Dunkin doesn't bother me, but I do not have strong preferences in coffee. Although the attendant and I did have a good laugh when I ordered a "regular coffee"...

Acela upgrades 1st Class Dining as of Summer Fall 2021

As fate would have it I got to try this menu a few days ago. I'm out in Washington D.C. on family vacation (we rode the CL in) and being from the midwest I thought I'd take the opportunity to experience the Acela. My father in-law and I took it between Philly and D.C. in the early morning...

Viewliner II Part 4: Sleeping Car production, delivery, deployment

Did something change? I was under the impression there were restrooms in the car (likely near the shower as @AmtrakBlue stated). Random search turns up this: https://www.trainsandtravel.com/2013/06/13/a-preview-look-at-amtraks-new-viewliner-sleeping-cars/ but that was eesh 7 years ago.

    City of New Orleans dining?

FWIW as someone who just recently road the City of New Orleans, the flexible dining appears to me an upgrade over what was previously offered(the CONO as opposed to the other Superliner trains had a more stripped down menu). Further I would hope it would resolved the hour+ wait for food that...

New dining options (flex dining) effective October 1, 2019

FWIW my daughter and I recently(Labor Day weekend) took the CONO from Chicago to Jackson and back, I would have much preferred this menu to what was offered.

    Jackson, MS

My daughter and I recently took a trip on the CONO to Jackson, arriving in the morning and departing in the evening on a Saturday. The area around the station was pretty dead, maybe one homeless person but otherwise few people/cars. We walked to the Museum of Mississippi History and the...

Indiana proposed budget zeros out Hoosier State funding

-from the Indianapolis Star As someone on the route who uses it, it would be a shame to see it go. What that train really needs is someone with vision to see how the route could benefit all the communities and the power to get funding from the state for increased frequencies.

Hoosier State Going from IPH Back to Amtrak

Yeah that's a post. Sorry again about the quality, this is not terribly out of my way to work and is the least obscured area. I know some folks that were on board, and in a text they mentioned that it was announced that all passengers will be getting Lounge access in Chicago as well.

    Cardinal / Hoosier State Review

Correct. It's my only issue with the service. It would be nice if in the future there would be a business class coach with high back seats as after a couple hours the low back dome seats can get quite uncomfortable although maybe they'll speed up the trip and solve the problem another way. That...

CHI - SEA on EB in coach with 3mo infant -- advice?

I've done this trip (to Portland though) with a 10 month old*. Frankly to my memory I remember it being pretty easy. We got the kid a seat so we'd have space for the car seat. He slept a great deal of the time. We were in the coach baggage and that was great as when he'd get upset I'd go down...

Iowa Pacific - Can It Be Duplicated Elsewhere?

I think that is a big part of it. According to Google Maps it's 124 miles between Lafayette and Chicago Union Station. Basically 250 miles round trip, assuming 20 mpg, that's 12.5 gallons of fuel, at 2$ a gallon that's 25$. That number is roughly half a single round trip ticket, the car has the...

Round trip on Iowa Pacific's Hoosier State

One of the coaches had plugs at the seat, the other coach didn't. Admittedly I only gave a cursory look as we didn't have a need for them this trip. Forgot to mention they gave out 3 different SSIDs over the announcements for the their WiFi which would seem to indicate that they have multiple...

Round trip on Iowa Pacific's Hoosier State

Living in one of the towns serviced by the Hoosier State and having the good fortune to grab a good deal early on on the Travel Pullman service to New Orleans I was quite interested and excited to see Iowa Pacific handling the Hoosier State. Though truth be told, I was really just glad to see...

    Hoosier State/Iowa Pacific Transition Thread

Lafayette's NPR affiliate posted this http://wbaa.org/post/hoosier-state-line-clock-running-even-if-new-trains-arent sounds like getting three different entities Amtrak, Iowa Pacific, INDOT to play nice with each other is the issue.
