    Map of LAUS?

I'm not sure what time the TE arrives into LAX but the Dash B route service starts at 5:50 AM.

    Metrolink train vs. dump truck

Now that I think of it, this is the second accident in the past six months involving a cabcar. Last August Metrolink 102 struck a truck and the Rotem cabcar fared well in that incident. Video of the train: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V-ZqnIPGzo The Bombardier car right behind it didn't...

    Metrolink train vs. dump truck

Ouch, another Metrolink train hits a dump truck at a crossing: http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Metrolink-train-collides-with-dump-truck-in-pacoima-201783001.html

    Pacific Surfliner

Surfliner 763 is a good bet and there is checked luggage service available at the Anaheim station. If on time, you should arrive in LA with plenty of time to spare. The Metrolink is fair game but you will need to wrangle your own luggage. LA Union Station can be a bit of a mess during rush hour...

Siemens Caltrans/IDOT Venture design, engineering, testing and delivery (2012-1Q 2024)

As usual the news parrots what they are told without too much checking. Looks like Nippon and the Sumitomo corp have partnered for many projects before.

Retired Firefighter goes missing on Amtrak Train

For the Surfliner cars, there is a control panel in each car that controls the doors for that particular car or all the cars. The doors are 2 piece and they operate much like elevator doors. I'm sure there is also an interlock to keep the train from moving unless all doors are properly closed.

A look at pricing on the Surfliner

For the Metrolink riders, its probably dependent on what city pairs were surveyed. From what I heard, there are lots of riders between LA and Ventura county. In my experience, there were fewer riders between LA and OC. As for the reserved seating issue, I believe the crews wanted that to...

    OK Amtrak Apologists

I'm sure someone will seize upon that statement and exclaim that Amtrak knew about ComicCon and did nothing about it. Well truth be told, there's been a conga line for evening departures to SAN from LAX since the summer began.

That would be me. Literally all the equipment at the LA yard is there to be serviced for its next run or for maintenance. Under extreme circumstances have the workers borrowed or swapped equipment temporarily from the LD trains for the Surfliner sets (I recall a CCC and a Sightseer Lounge)...

    OK Amtrak Apologists

Since Metrolink is primarily a commuter rail, they are going to need all the equipment they have during the work week. However if there was a crunch during the weekend, Amtrak could have coordinated with Metrolink and rented a trainset or two. Another issue with a through train is 2 fold. First...

    Stalled 14(14)

Sometimes the AmFleet set has a double header (with any combination P32, F59 or P42) other times it's just an engine on one end and a cabbage car (90230 or 90208)

    OK Amtrak Apologists

If Metrolink and if the North County Transit District want to do that, they sure can. There isn't much Metrolink trains to Oceanside outside of the commute hours. If there were to be more trains, someone has to pay for it. Then you have Amtrak and CalTrans who could throw a roadblock to this...

    OK Amtrak Apologists

Yup, its the states problem. I'm sure Metrolink can loan equipment or make additional runs to Orange County. Question is, who wants to pay for it? There is already a measly Metrolink schedule on the Orange County line. Metrolink will gladly run more trains, does the Orange County Transportation...

    OK Amtrak Apologists

Well Johnny you you are spot on with your assessment. As a regular on the 785/589 I see standing room conditions very often. Actually its been that way almost EVERY Friday for as long as I've been riding. I have heard many angry people complaining but that's the way it goes. You can take the...

Do MBTA trains set off Amtrak Defect Detectors?

For the Metrolink detectors, they usually state the milepost, MPH, any defects and the total axles. I remember one morning our train did set on off due to some dragging equipment. For the BNSF one, it usually states the milepost, main or track that the train is traveling on and if there is a...

    Clean & Sober Ride Free?

The Sheriffs usually check tickets on certain days but they check between random stops. I've seen my fair share of people who got caught. Reactions have ranged from shock/anger to being led away in silver bracelets (the guy didn't have a ticket and had a outstanding warrant to boot).

    Southwest Chief Departure Track LAUS

I have heard that Amtrak was to be moved to the middle tracks with Metrolink taking the tracks on the far ends.
