    Former Wisconsin Talgos

FWIW, I just saw a video of the Wisconsin Talgo sets pass La Plata, MO last night on their way to Pueblo, so it would appear this is in motion.

New Cafe Menu on the Texas Eagle Considered

This sounds exactly like an employee rumor.

Viewliner II - Part 1 - Initial Production and Delivery

I have also just heard from a reliable source that the new diner is coming south on the Silver Meteor tomorrow evening (November 2nd) to go to Hialeah for final fitting. That would suggest it coming out of CAF some time today, I would imagine.

Amtrak America painted sleeper on 92(26)

Just caught a glimpse of the Silver Star passing Ashland, VA, and it had an FRA car up front, usual VL baggage, followed by an Amtrak-America liveried VL sleeper, then a standard painted sleeper, and the cafe and coaches. Are they repainting old Viewliners in the new scheme, or was this one of...

    Crescent Business Class - Equipment

I've looked in our forum and not seen it mentioned. What exactly is the consist of the Crescent now that it has business class? What is the car they are using to provide this with?

Business Class Offered Aboard Crescent Trains 19 and 20

So, in sum, no one has any idea of the car used for this? Any idea how many of the split club cars are floating around out there?

Viewliner II - Part 1 - Initial Production and Delivery

My bad. Did not intend to duplicate...I saw them on FB and looked back to see if anyone had mentioned. I missed Charlie's post.

Viewliner II - Part 1 - Initial Production and Delivery

Just saw photos on FB, the three are a new Sleeper (#62500), a new Diner (#6800), and a new Bag-Dorm (#69001 in Amtrak America livery. It's on the Empire State Passenger Association FB group, and was shared to Amtrak Fans FB Group.

    December 2015 Performance Report

I watch the Star go by most days here from my office, you guys are right, it's been three coaches since the holidays. Just wanted to add that they do run a third VL sleeper during peak seasons "occasionally". I noticed this during November but not December. I did spot the Meteor with Four VL...

Cardinal 50 Jan 26 seems to have super liner rooms on the train

I just heard from a very reliable inside source that it will be a four car Superliner train. So, it isn't what I thought - a ferry ride of the 29/30 consist. Fun chance to ride them if you want. I imagine it will be 1 sleeper, 1 CCC, 2 coaches. Just a guess.

Cardinal 50 Jan 26 seems to have super liner rooms on the train

Okay, help me out here, but usually when the Cardinal is a Superliner consist, it is because the Capitol Ltd needs a consist ferried from either Chicago to Washington or vice versa. Didn't the Capitol Ltd operate westbound from WAS to PIT at the outset of this storm, but not return? If so, they...

Business Class Offered Aboard Cardinal Effective January 19, 2016

The winter/summer operating plans are really a blessing for trains like the Cardinal, as I understand it, there is not enough equipment to cover the second sleeper and any additional Amfleet II coaches due to maintenance needs. By knocking these out during the winter months, when traffic is...

Business Class Offered Aboard Cardinal Effective January 19, 2016

I agree. I think that since the Cardinal is the only LD train using the split Diner Lite car, it could be easier from an equipment standpoint to convert these BC Amfleet I's to Diner Lite service and make them Cardinal dedicated, allowing Amtrak to use regular Amfleet II Cafe/Lounges that the...

Business Class Offered Aboard Cardinal Effective January 19, 2016

Purely out of curiousity, I called Amtrak this afternoon. The reservation agent told me that Business Class seats were not available yet in the system, but she suggested that it would be a $25 upcharge from whatever fare I selected for that route, Charlottesville to Clifton Forge (tickets range...

Business Class Offered Aboard Cardinal Effective January 19, 2016

It seems logical to me that they will use the leather seat/2-1 cafe/business class cars that have been floating around the northeast. There should be enough of those to equip the train, and it would be essentially zero cost, just reassignment. I'm pleased with this, as they are generally nice...

    Silver Star Update

The cardinal runs with one engine most times nowadays, with the same consist as the Star. Doesn't make it okay, as they've had issues with that, but I imagine that is where they get the standard idea.

Capitol Ltd - Extend to Virginia

Good point, but they do presently service the Northeast Regional coaches in Norfolk. I imagine there would be increased work with the sleepers, but nothing that would be too great. Your diner would still be serviced (food, materials) in Washington. Theoretically, you could drop the Diner...

Capitol Ltd - Extend to Virginia

Virginia has been looking to increase service to Tidewater (Newport News/Norfolk) for some time. Present plans call for an additional regional to Norfolk, and eventually a third that would just run to Richmond. My thought is, why not extend the Capitol Ltd to cover one of these runs? Here is...

    Capitol Ltd consist question

I've taken this train probably ten times now, but understand it is using a shortened consist for winter maintenance purposes. Our family is taking a trip out to Chicago (and Santa Fe) this Saturday, and returning next Saturday/Sunday (2/21). Because this return trip is later in the spectrum of...

Empire Builder to resume normal schedule on January 12, 2015

Just saw this on Amtrak's webpage under news: (http://www.amtrak.com/ccurl/805/708/Amtrak-Empire-Builder-returns-to-normal-schedule-ATK-14-121.pdf) AMTRAK EMPIRE BUILDER BACK TO NORMAL SCHEDULE More popular timetables for Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana; Detours end in North Dakota...
