I've only really lived in Illinois & Michigan. Between all my contacts up here in the Midwest, I've heard of a TON of snowbirds & transplants snapping up property down the corridor that you refer to (Tampa down into Bradenton, Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Naples). With the population explosion &...
In the wake of this ongoing COVID era (and the ability for white collar workers to work "remotely") I believe there has been quite a bit of population growth in areas such as West Michigan (ie. Grand Rapids metro area) and northern Michigan (ie. Traverse City & the numerous other towns up...
A Grand Rapids to Detroit line would make perfect sense to me as well. Plus all the students & alum with ties to MSU could potentially use it from SE or West Michigan to get to Michigan State / East Lansing right in the middle. I guess we can hope for it some day.
Disagree to some extent. There are a lot of Midwestern snowbirds in the western side of Florida (ie. Tampa / Sarasota / Fort Myers / Naples). Yes, Chicago feeds a lot of snowbirds into the Phoenix (Arizona) area & transplants folks to various Texas cities, but California & Hawaii? Negligible...
The New Buffalo (Michigan) station (along the Chicago, IL - Pontiac, Michigan) line is 3.2 miles from Four Winds Casino. I believe there is a shuttle bus to the casino. Also the Michigan City (Indiana) stop that some trains on the same line make is not far at all from the Blue Chip casino in...
Great news indeed. The core of Detroit (ie. Downtown, Midtown, Corktown, etc.) has seen a ton of investment & progress since the bankruptcy restructuring in 2013. This continues the trend since that time period.

More winter problems along the Michigan Services (Wolverine) corridor...
Dress very casually & tell them you're visiting from Silicon Valley where millionaires sport a T-shirt & jeans to work at startup firms. Heheh, just kiddin'. I would go with whatever is comfortable. Who cares what anyone else thinks as long as your attire isn't considered inappropriate in...
According to the articles I've seen online, the story is supposed to take place aboard a Metro North train departing Manhattan (NYC) on up north to Poughkeepsie along the Hudson line.
LOL, poor Browns. Ah well, Cleveland still has a championship contending basketball team (Cavaliers) along with arguably the best NBA player in the world at the moment (LeBron James, an Akron OH native).
When the Illinois - Michigan corridor receives new equipment within a couple years, I wonder if the shiny new equipment will be able to withstand these Midwest winters a bit better...
Don't shoot the messenger, heh. But check out this Detroit Free Press article. We can blame this one on the weather?:

Yeah I think I agree. I don't think I'd mind keeping a Glenview stop available on this route either. We'll see what they ultimately decide. I've lived in the Cook County suburbs near Glenview & the Lake County suburbs near Lake Forest so I understand the appeal in both areas for sure!
RIP to the victims & condolences to everyone affected by this. This brings back memories of the Philadelphia incident. I really hope that this tragedy leads to improvements that will keep folks safe in the future.
Latest update I've seen. The Glenview stop might get scrapped altogether in favor of Lake Forest:
