    Flag stop notification

Yeah we told them to be visible just to make sure. Deming has a little shack that doesn't even have windows for their "station."

    Flag stop notification

How long in advance does the conductor need to know to ensure the train stops at a flag stop? For instance, buying tickets now for tomorrow's Sunset Limited at Deming, NM.

    Buy points fee

So here's my question. Does anyone know what the current fee is for transferring bought points to someone who has maxed out their bought points for the year. For example: Person 1 buys 10,000 points. Person 2 buys 5,000 points and wants to transfer all those points to Person 1.

Best place to split reservation on EB

My girlfriend and I are thinking of moving to Portland, OR (long story) and this would be good and bad for when I travel back home to visit family. Right now we have to board the Texas Eagle 421/420 from TUS to get to CHI and then the Pere Marquette into GRR. When/If we move, it'll only be the...

    Line Numbers/Consist Listings

That's funny, because when I came back from Michigan this past January that is precisely how the cars were. I remember because it was a lonnnng walk to the dining car.

    SAS drug store/convenience store

They're all out. Managed to get some in FTW at the greyhound ticketing window but those will be gone soon. We're going crazy slow after leaving Austin though...

    SAS drug store/convenience store

I'm on board 421 headed for SAS and just wondering if there was anywhere near the station I could get some tylenol or ibuprofen at 10 pm at night...

Any Tips for a Young Woman Riding Alone?

My girlfriend came to visit me via the Texas Eagle/Sunset Limited (which was a 3 day trip in coach for her lol) but she didn't mind it at all, aside from the length part.

    California-Vegas train

I was watching my favorite news source on YouTube and heard about this. Unfortunately it's going to be a "party train" so it won't run everyday but it seems this company has done what Amtrak couldn't lol www.mercurynews.com/top-stories/ci_22057875/california-las-vegas-party-train-could-hit-tracks

Un-manned Amtrak stations......how do you know what to do?

If the route originates there, then there will be a couple crew members when they train arrives but not too much before. This is what happens with the Pere Marquette when it originates at GRR. But otherwise, yes there is usually more than just you boarding, And there might even be a caretaker...

    AGR and Facebook

Exactly. Not to mention that when you "install" the app, you can see everything it's going to "use."

    Texas Eagle/Blue Water Questions

The Blue Water and Wolverine were both upgraded recently when the trackwork being done there was finished. IIRC, Michigan now owns that portion of rail correct? Or does Amtrak own it?

Who in the world are you?

Awe, did you have to go to NMU? (I went to Tech :P ) but I agree with you on that aspect. I loved the small rural feel of the UP, especially driving along US-41 between Houghton and MQT (my girlfriend at the time went TO NMU).

Who in the world are you?

Lets see, I'm 23, currently in college for computer science (specifically network security/computer forensics). I graduated high school in 2007, went to Michigan Tech University for a year, then had to come back home and so I went to a local community college and worked on and off. I'm...

    AGR and Facebook

I did it, and to be fair, the AGR app only accessed my basic information, because well from the looks of it, it's just an embedded HTML of the actual AGR page

    30% bonus ends today (9/30)

I usually buy points for full-zone trips. For example, I don't usually buy the 1,000 points that is necessary to complete the trip from GRR to CHI on the Pere Marquette (special route), but I would buy the 10,000 (with bonus) to get a one-way one-zone roomette (or round-trip one-zone coach)...

Steaming Hot Freshly Made Pizza Delivered to the Ca Zephyr in Route -

While aboard the 421 waiting in San Antonio, a couple came on board offering pizzas for cash. Sadly I didn't have any money

    Coach seats on LD trains

I've done CHI-FLG round trip on the SWC and CHI-TUS on the TE/SL. Coach isn't too bad to me, at least for a couple days. I think 3 days is enough for me to take a small break.

    Remaining in roomette

Well technically the AGR reservation is from GRR-ELP, but the Pere Marquette doesn't have sleepers so I figured it was irrelevant. So yes, from GRR-ELP would be more expensive then ELP-TUS. The other thing was that we originally going to just do coach from ELP-TUS, because that part of the trip...

    Remaining in roomette

Would I get charged the new rate? Since technically I chose to do the 421 through sleeper with the points, and then since the 1 sleeper is cheaper from ELP-TUS then the 421 sleeper is, I chose that one. So I would assume to be able to remain in the 421 sleeper I'd need to change my reservation...
