Hmmmm...just had a thought....what if.....there were all-sleeper consists for twice the cost of a coach ticket....it would perhaps allow people that couldn't otherwise afford a sleeper to buy one and would reduce the cost for those who are used to purchasing sleepers at steep prices....revenue...

Visited Denver Union Station this weekend....It was very impressive and it certainly breathed a new life into the building! I was happy to see the outside of the building was relatively untouched with the exception of the overhang in front, which actually looks quite nice....Here's some pics.....

Is there a luggage storage area on the lower level of the transdorm? I will be on #8 car 0832 roomette18...

I am scheduled to arrive CUS on #8 Feb 18....since they have been running quite late, I have mixed feelings about paying for a room....is it feasible to just stay in the station all night? I'll be leaving on 5 the next day.

Stopped at Sanford for maintenance crew to try and fix sanitary system in car 9811....looks like we're going to lose about an hour at least.... Just started moving again....went quicker than expected....awesome!

May be overnighting in PDX around the third week in February. Is there a decent hotel and restaurant within a reasonable cab ride? I have a cousin in the area that I would like to hook up with in a restaurant near where I am staying. :help:

If I book a trip FAR-CHI arriving at 3:55PM on the EB, and leave CHI-DEN 2PM the next day on the CZ, I understand that could be booked as one AGR trip since the layover is less than 24 hours? Is that correct? I understand the overnight in CHI would be on my dime......

What if AMTRAK offered a sleeper fare structure that reduced the price for a sleeper by half of the average cost of meals and the passenger was responsible for his/her own eats....either bringing their own, or purchasing them in the snack bar or the diner? It would give a person a little more...
