Christmas morning shooting on the Coast Starlight

You are wrong on so many levels. Six to 10 shots is roughly half of the typical police service pistol. Police always carry a back up gun. Granted missed shots could hit innocent people. The Lone Ranger is fiction. Regarding training, I'd ask what police academy did you attend? I have a...

    Lake Shore Limited discussion 2023 Q4 - 2024

Thank you. Apologies for the late reply, had some water damage at the house that required us to move out for a bit. Question, Where do you access the elevator you mention? I have researched the west concourse and that also appears to be a good option. Thank you in advance.

    Cardinal discussion

Room 1 is more in the middle of the car just past the bedrooms on the same side of the car. Rooms 1-4 are my favorites due to the location mid-car. The link below has a floorplan of the viewliner sleeper.

New Chicago to Peoria Route studied

It will be interesting to see where the La Salle/Peru stop would be. The station is still there but is a lawn and garden store now. Our family used to ride the Peoria Rocket in the 60's returning from family visits to and from RVR. My great uncle was a conductor on the Rocket.

You never know what you will see

It was the Carolinian. I watched it pass south of Petersburg and it did have two locomotives.

Two ‘Cardinal’ veterans look back at rewarding careers

I was lucky enough to ride twice with Mama J. The second time she gave me a guided tour of the fairly new VL II bag dorm. She wore a huge rodeo type belt buckle with the Amtrak logo. What a wonderful SCA.

Train #66 Transferring to Sleeper from Coach

I have tickets for a trip to Boston from Richmond. I have a separate coach ticket to Washington and a sleeper ticket to Boston. Does anyone know what the process is for making the transfer from coach to sleeper? Would I have to leave the train and enter the station? Can I just hang around...

When is Sleeping Car returning to WAS-BOS overnight train?

If I recall correctly, when I rode 65 back in the sleeping car days the SCA was based in BOS and overnighted in NPN.

    Self-defense (on train)?

Search "Self Defense Key Chains", this might do it for you. My daughter has one. I also noticed a svelte 5" Amtrak SCA had one on her set of keys. Practice throat punches, would make anyone think twice.

    Increased Security Presence on Trains

I was on 66 two weeks ago and an APD officer boarded in New Haven. He stayed on until Providence. I saw him hanging out with the crew in the cafe. I did not see him interact with any passengers. I also noticed a very visible police presence at BOS and CHI inside the stations. Outside of...
