I was leaving from Kansas City to Galesburg to catch the California Zephyr - really no other way of catching it unless I left today to take the Missouri Runner to Saint Louis, and then STL to CHI the next day. Unfortunately for me, I live 3 hours from KCY so that's not really an option either...

The SWC tomorrow #4 (6/26), if you are connecting to Galesburg, is canceled. They told me to rebook some other day and they would n't bus anyone. Seriously? Currently I'm hosed - I have no way to get to Galesburg.

I'm boarding the SWC in KCY, and then picking up the CZ in Galesburg on Thursday. Might be on the same train, hopefully, everything is worked out by then.

Last time I went out to California using points, I left out of KCY, transferred in Galesburg and took the Zephyr to SAC. When I looked at doing the same thing again, it's no longer an option to transfer in Galesburg - now it wants to route me LAX, bus to Bakersfield and then head up to SAC...

I hope this doesn't happen - my wife and I get off at the Trinidad station when we head to Colorado. The Hertz rental car place is just a few blocks into town so it's no problem getting a car and driving the rest of the way to wherever we're going.

Maybe I'm a bit spoiled, but if I'm unable to get/afford a room, I'll aim to reserve lower level coach. It's quieter and less traffic going through there and just feels more roomy.

I always thought there was only 3 zones (East, Midwest, and West) but noticed that there is a fourth, Northeast. How does that figure into AGR? If I'm going from Chicago to DC, is that 3 zones or 2? Seems silly for it to take more points to travel a few miles.
