    What's Delaying the Crescent?

I was on it last Thursday and Friday from NOL to WAS. We experienced some delays in Mississippi and a little outside of Tuscaloosa. It all added up to a two-hour late arrival to WAS. My train had do give an engine to one stranded in CVS. Interestingly, the dining car was announced as not...

    Texas Eagle

I live on the Dallas side of the Metroplex, and I still usually use the Fort Worth station. FTW is large, modern, clean, and comfortable, and there is a Subway restaurant on site AND a car rental. You can take the TRE to get to Dallas and to connect to DART rail, if needed. Dallas Union...

Cell Phone Reception on Amtrak trains

I've lost signal before when the railroad diverges from the highway and goes through heavy forest, a canyon, etc.

    Service Disruption on TE

What's the deal with the TE today? It's not running from San Antonio at all.

    Heartland Flyer Speed

I just returned from my second trip on the Heartland Flyer, FTW-OKC round-trip. It was a fantastic trip, and I think the HF serves as a great model for the kind of corridor service needed elsewhere, especially here in Texas. I do have to wonder, though, why the top speed allowed on the Texas...

    Oklahoma City Heartland

There is a small parking lot there. I've never seen it full, so he should be okay to park there.

    New Beaumont station

I agree. The people of Orange would appreciate it, and there are plenty of good places for a station along the way.

    Trains on the Street

Springfield, IL--people coming out of their houses seem completely oblivious to the trains on the street. Austin, TX--Mopac Expressway has tracks down the middle. The name "Mopac" is self-explanatory!

    Therapy Animals

Three weeks ago, a woman brought a small service dog in a carrier on to the Heartland Flyer. She said it was to warn her about seizures. It made sound once when we were almost to OKC, but it was otherwise quiet. One woman on the train had some mumblings about it, but nobody else said...

    Amtrak Funding Poll

I voted--it's fun! Can't hurt anything. Some people just have to have a "several paragraph" response to everything...

    Today's eastbound Sunset

Anyone know why the Sunset lost 6 hours between San Antonio and Houston last night?

    My Sunset Limited Master Plan

There are all kinds of dreams and speculations on this board. Chill out!

    New Beaumont station

I agree. The route goes through the middle of Orange, and it's a way cooler town that would probably take much better care of train passengers!

    No Debit Cards at QuikTrak?

If it has a Visa or MC logo on it, it can still be used as a credit card.

Of course! I didn't think of that. Thanks!

    Late Eastbound #2

Anyone know why the eastbound Sunset Limited is so late today? It left Los Angeles late, and then got stuck in Yuma, from what I can tell...

    Texas Eagle

My last two trips on the TE arrived early at every stop, and the service was impeccable. Everyone's experience is different. Isn't one purpose of this board to encourage train travel?
