I just returned from my second trip on the Heartland Flyer, FTW-OKC round-trip. It was a fantastic trip, and I think the HF serves as a great model for the kind of corridor service needed elsewhere, especially here in Texas. I do have to wonder, though, why the top speed allowed on the Texas...

Springfield, IL--people coming out of their houses seem completely oblivious to the trains on the street. Austin, TX--Mopac Expressway has tracks down the middle. The name "Mopac" is self-explanatory!

Three weeks ago, a woman brought a small service dog in a carrier on to the Heartland Flyer. She said it was to warn her about seizures. It made sound once when we were almost to OKC, but it was otherwise quiet. One woman on the train had some mumblings about it, but nobody else said...

I agree. The route goes through the middle of Orange, and it's a way cooler town that would probably take much better care of train passengers!

My last two trips on the TE arrived early at every stop, and the service was impeccable. Everyone's experience is different. Isn't one purpose of this board to encourage train travel?
