    Updates on Chicago Boarding?

Help, help, help! I am completely confused about boarding from the new Metropolitan Lounge. Also, confused regarding changed Red Cap service. The old lounge policies were thoroughly familiar, having passed through annually for many years. We depend on Red Cap service to carry us upon arrival...

    How can Amtrak improve accessibility?

Improving accessibility on trains.... Full agreement for level boarding from platforms. In the meantime, it would be helpful to have the portable boarding step made with an attached handrail to provide steadiness for the first step up. Also, I second making the announcements clear with no...

    Still flooding in Texas/Louisiana?

I booked the Sunset Limited to New Orleans first of April, got as far as San Antonio and was bussed to Houston, then train again on to New Orleans. Is Amtrak going all the way to New Orleans now with no interruptions? Still flooding problems with bussing? If so, will take the Southwest Chief...

Will have traveled in sleeper accommodations for three days; overnight in Washington and leave next day in business class on a day train (no sleepers). Would like a quiet waiting area and Red Cap...

Thank you, ps&r: Do you know if there is an open gate in the fence to access the little street?

    Oceanside CA street access

When the Surfliner stops at Oceanside, sometimes in order to access the parking lot to walk to the street, cabs etc., we need to carry luggage down a steep ramp, cross over at the bottom and walk back up another ramp. The tracks are labeled Track 1 and Track 2. Does anyone know of an easier...

    Metropolitan Lounge in Chicago???

I am trying to make sense of what is happening at Chicago's Metro Lounge. Is it being renovated? Moving to a new location? Or nothing is happening? We will go through in mid-June and again early July, and would like to know of any change.

    Best Viewliner Room

Re: Shower room on Viewliner. In my experience of 10 years traveling on the Viewliner, the shower room is always well-filled with luggage. I did not know it was ever available for showering.

Amenities Being Eliminated from Long Distance Routes

"The Infamous Miss Polly" in a dining car is frequently mentioned. Would someone please say why she is infamous?

What brought YOU to long distance train travel?

To vv: Our first trip was actually recommended by a very nice car attendant on the Surfliner. I booked a sleeper bedroom for my husband and myself and a nice Seattle hotel, all for his birthday. We had a great three days!

What brought YOU to long distance train travel?

Not sure why my first reply did not post, so here is a duplicate reply. We first traveled long distance about 12 years ago, Los Angeles to Seattle on Coast Starlight. We loved it, but never did it again. TSA got so creepy that I absolutely quit flying in 2005, and since then I travel...
