Two different headlines on Brightline accident

I have a friend who is a conductor on Brightline. Last week he was running after a Miami Heat game. Almost all of his passengers were drunk and throwing up on the cars. He said he rounded a corner on the line and saw a car stuck on the tracks and told his engineer to "get ready to stop." Low and...

pros and cons of being a Amtrak Engineer or Conductor

Also if you got to choose which region or which train you could operate what would you choose?

pros and cons of being a Amtrak Engineer or Conductor

This is probably a given but if your going from a freight engineer to an Amtrak engineer you have to adjust to the more rapid acceleration and timing the brake applications at stations so you don't overshoot or undershoot. And when your in the cab, whether engineer or conductor, enjoy that...

Signs about Anderson and Amtrak north of PHL

I’m not quite old enough to get into politics so when I saw those signs I was more focused on the equipment stored between the two than what they said or meant

    Carolinian finances, reroutes, extension

Ah. I see. But I wonder if instead of extending the Carolinian to Atlanta what about to Columbia? Just thinking out loud

    Carolinian finances, reroutes, extension

But also I ride the Carolinian occasionally and the longest part of the trip is North Carolina. It takes forever to get to Charlotte. If they can find a way to make that single track section go faster then definitely do it. Also why is it called the the Carolinian of it only goes through one...

    Carolinian finances, reroutes, extension

I actually emailed Amtrak and proposed that they extend the Piedmont to Columbia SC. People in Charlotte could get to Florida by train much faster then it would to go north to Raleigh and then transfer. And since the Carolina Panthers are building a facility in Rock Hill SC they could even...

    How to clean a motor?

I am an HO modeler, but the motor looks almost exactly like some of my old Bachman’s models that I own. The green is normal on the actual motor. It is hard to say from just the one picture what might be wrong. Does the engine stutter and stop or just run slow?

    Train 1092??

So is it detouring over a different track or just running on a different schedule?

    Train 1092??

So I got an email today saying that the 157 was on the 1092 today, and this thread helped with identifying the train. The only thing is that the email said that the train was in rock hill, SC. The only active line through there is NS’s R line, which only sees the OCS twice a year along with the...

    NEC Herring run...plus..a ferry ride!

Nice. I rode the Carolinian from New York to Charlotte NC. I remember seeing those signs, although I was more focused on the equipment sitting there and than what they said. Looking back at the photos, there is a old amtrak engine in phase 1 paint, possibly an E8, along with a coach, baggage...
