I'd like to go to FQF without having to pay the outrageous parking rates they charge in The Quarter and CBD but it doesn't look like it will happen this year.

When you look at this crossing on Google Maps, it's absolutely astounding that this could occur. Drivers can see the train for at least a mile in either direction. I wonder if they will find something in the victim's blood that shouldn't have been there?

Dining car seating has to be arranged before the meal. Don't walk in and seat yourself.

Remember that Mobile was against resuming passenger service. Unlike the Mississippi Coast, they are a destination for a lot of CSX freight. They are in lockstep with CSX.

Airline meals and snacks are crazy expensive, which is why budget airlines don't offer them and mainline airlines try to scrimp on them at every opportunity. Don't get me started on just how awful the food was on Delta when I flew from Atlanta to Athens in Oct '21.

When the train rolled by I was pre-washing my car at the Rosalie Station carwash in Long Beach at the intersection of Railroad and Klondike .

Went to a coffee shop near the Gulfport Amtrak station at 11:15 this morning and hung around the area until 11:45 without seeing any trains. I did notice some orange-vested workers taking pictures of the signs & platform. The Gulfport station needs some tidying up before it's ready for service...

That's great progress. Unfortunately the horns don't sound that much different (to my ears) from the usual CSX locos. I may have been in downtown Gulfport at that time but missed it.

Does anyone know if there have been any recent test runs? I live about 3 miles from the CSX line through coastal Mississippi and I keep listening for the higher pitched Amtrak horns. When you're listening for it every horn sounds like what you want to hear.
