    WOW Air ceases operation

Actually, Reykjavik is not a terrible place to be stranded. If you end up there for a few hours, you can store your luggage and go to the Blue Lagoon - it's a natural spa. Longer and you can go into Reykjavik and see a very neat city. The only real downside is that food is expensive, esp. if you...

    Flying with a Violin

Brass instruments are fine in the hold. Wood instruments are not. The pressure changes can warp the soundboard. My recommendation would be to splurge for priority boarding if possible, and get a smaller travel case - this almost certainly won't be the last time you need one. I'm told violins...

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

That's a good point, on the Boston schedule. And there is normally an evening train on weekdays. The cancellation pattern looks like they're doing an extended length of single tracking, probably to try and get repairs done quickly. Just seems like April is a bad time to go to Williamsburg :/...

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

Yeah. Apparently Williamsburg gets screwed. (All the press releases say they won't "harm" Williamsburg, but I can't imagine ridership going UP on a train moved from a time that is reasonable for most people to a time that is inconvenient for most). And I def. read something about the base being...

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

But the navy can put pressure on the state, and who else would want a train that gets into DC in time for morning meetings at the Pentagon? :P.

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

I actually heard it was the base at Norfolk that requested that. But when there's only two trains a day...

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

They already gave me the choice between the 5:42am train and a refund. I'll keep an eye on it and maybe if they add a later train back in... I dunno. But what it's looking like with the added data from 67 is an extended distance of single tracking.

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

April 8. It was already close to trip ruining when they moved the reasonably-timed 9am train to that early (I have a sleep disorder that is aggravated by getting up before about 6). And no, there isn't a trip alert on it, or I wouldn't be asking. Amtrak is refusing to tell me what's going on...

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

I meant to say on the week I'm traveling. I have been seriously considering canceling the trip, because 5:42am is just *ridiculous*.

Williamsburg - just..(times of train to DC)?

So, I have a conference in Williamsburg. Does anyone have any idea WHY Amtrak just decided to cancel the evening train to DC on weekdays, leaving only the oh dark thirty 'military wants to get their soldiers to the Pentagon by 10am' option? I have to take a 5:42am train the day after a draining...
