I would think it's the engineer as he says we are on the ground and then says we are on the highway, not sure where the conductor was in the train could have been on the cars that were on the highway, but I'm guessing it was the engineer. Also, whoever it was, thought they were at milepost...

The fact that no brakes were applied puzzles me, because the engineer yelled emergency emergency we are on the ground but it sounded as if he put the train into emergency and was declaring he had braked and then the train derailed, but I could (and probably am) be wrong.

well if it had been a superliner consist that had a capacity about the same as a talgo set, then it might have been roughly the same weight because superliner cars, which are much heavier, do have a higher capacity, five superliners can have the same or more capacity as a talgo set if you have...

If the pax count is so low, could it be possible for the conductor to put everyone into two or three cars to keep track of everyone? Sent from my SM-G930P using Amtrak Forum mobile app

Now that Hunter Harrison at CSX is dead will things for Amtrak improve

Well since EHH picked a replacement team when he went on medical leave, they'll probably handle operations in the short term. CSX will probably pick another CEO that'll serve stockholders not the railroad. Another businessman instead of a railroader. Sent from my SM-G930P using Amtrak Forum...

Two parties on one reservation (coach and sleeper)?

Yeah life has gotten tougher, I never considered how much homework an honors geometry class might hand out. I will certainly share what I get I will, thanks *edit-replying to me_little_me post, didn't quote properly I suspect

Two parties on one reservation (coach and sleeper)?

-The problem with booking two rommettes is a matter of $600, which isn't in the budget.-I've done multiple nights in both coach and sleeper and I'm fine with either, atleast for now with my young back. Sent from my SM-G930P using Amtrak Forum mobile app

Two parties on one reservation (coach and sleeper)?

The unaccompanied minors rule is very restrictive and wouldn't allow two 15 year olds to be completely separate from the adults, but the problem I have, is finding a way to make Amtrak classify both the coach reservation and sleeper reservation as one party. The website doesn't seem to allow...

Two parties on one reservation (coach and sleeper)?

Hello there ladies and gentlemen, I haven't been on in a while, high school has taken a toll on my personal life, and my "AU'ing", but that's not the important thing right now. So I'm looking at planning a trip with my girlfriend and parents from MSP-SEA, and while my girlfriend and I are plenty...

    CUS electrification

Well the Superliners wil run till the end of their useful life, then rather than replacing them with more Superliners they will replace them with viewliners. Shops aren't efficient and stuff happens, but they'll eventually get done. Sent from my SM-G930P using Amtrak Forum mobile app

    Second train CHI-MSP

I have long wanted an Amtrak connection from MSP to Stevens Point, WI, as well as Stevens Point to Chicago. Many people want a second frequency CHI-MSP, and after a little looking in my old Soo Line Timetables, you could hit Chicago, Milwaukee, Fon Du Lac, Oshkosh, Waupaca, Stevens Point...

    CUS electrification

While they make sense in a business world, it's much easier to evade the conductor with the bi-level design. I still think everywhere should run Superliners but I know that ain't gonna happen. I love the old Superliner design, my personal favorite Amtrak fleet, but I mean if Amtrak has the...

    CUS electrification

Regardless of what kind of cars are used, I think Superliners should fit under catenary wire, though I'd rather third rail since it's cheapers and would work just fine for the job of getting rid of the majority of fumes, if all locos were dual mode then it wouldn't even cost any time for trains...
