    Dayton Union Station

Hi! I live near the area, and I remember the news showing the spot where the station would be. I remember them saying that they would have the build the terminal. I can't wait to get the 3-C. It would be amazing!

    Cardinal

I second everyone's opinions about the Cardinal (though I may be a bit bias because it is my home station train). But seriously, I love taking the sleeper through that beautiful river-laden gorge. When we rode it in the summer we watched kayakers and canoers and white-water rafters having lots...

CIN - WAS on the Cardinal 1/20/10

My main station is CIN, so I can totally answer any questions you have about the cardinal. You'll love the bedroom! You'll have a ton of room, great accommodations, decent food, and gorgeous scenery! Spoiled is not a good enough word for this experience. I can't think of a better place to be...

    Metropolitan Lounge Chicago

When I went last Valentine's Day, I was reading one of several newspapers that was left on a table there. I dont know if a fellow rider left them there or if they were put there by the staff. Either way, in my experience I saw some.

    Free trip on Acela

Really, Dr. Phil isn't that bad. He is on tv, but he honestly does want to help. I would go to his show again! Afterparties are a ton of fun!

Why did the fare go down?

A similar situation happened to me in the past. I booked tickets on roomettes from CIN to KIS. I checked the price every few weeks and found that the bedroom price on one of the legs was actually CHEAPER than our roomette price. So I called and 'upgraded' to a bedroom and they gave me the...

    Giordano's

Haha! I went to Giordano's (on the advice from this forum) on my trip to Chicago. I loved it so much that I have since TWICE mail ordered pizza from Illinois to Ohio. $70 for 2 pizzas!

    Viewliners. Why?

I think that having them in the room is rather handy! Especially if you get motion sickness (like me!) when you're walking through a swaying train.

Dinah won't U blow yur horn

I LOVE livng near the tracks. Every single house I have had has been near tracks, so I fall asleep to the sound of the whistle. :D Our town does have a few silent zones, where there are 4 or 5 obstacles blocking off the tracks (which also effectively blocks that entire road and you have to...

    Least Scenic Route

My favorite out of the ones you listed is the Cardinal. As aprevious poster said, it is a short and crowded train, however, I usually ride in sleepers and that makes all the difference. You get a breath-taking view from that train.

    Hats off to Amtrak

Hey, if there's The Cardinal on there, let me know and I'll ride every day!

    Rough Track

Hubby and I were on the Silver Meteor in June, 2008. I remember the trip northbound from KIS had some really rough track during the night, like somewhere in the Carolinas. I seriously thought I was going to fall out of my bunk! My brother was on that same trip this April, and without discussing...

    Viewliner Roomette

My hubby is 6' 1'' (and weighs 330lbs) and we have on ridden viewliners. He begs to sleep on the top bunk because he says you can see better from up there. I dont think you will have much trouble with the room size. Both hubby and I fit in the room comfortably. Everyone else answered the other...

Getting excited about my train trip next week

Just added you as a friend.

    Forward or Backwards

I HAVE to face forward. I get horrid motion sickness, even with meds. I normally get pretty drugged when I ride the train, eventhough I love to ride! My hubby and I always get a roomette, and the poor guy always rides backwards so I can face forward. I can't even read or look at a stationary...

    EB Split question

Thanks for the info! I think that is really neat. Hopefully I can take the EB myself sometime next year!

    EB Split question

I was just wondering.... I know that the EB splits during its trip and one part goes to Portland and another goes to Seattle. But my question is about the reverse trip- do the 2 EBs merge during the return trip to Chicago? Thanks! Kim <><

Glad you liked your trip! The Cardinal's view is amazing!!!!

    ticketing question

Alright.:-) Thanks so much. I've never had to buy tix for someone else- just for me. I'm kinda jealous that my brother gets 14 hours on the meteor and 13 on the cardinal! I want to be on those trains!
