Welcome! The Downeaster is one of Amtrak's best and most unique routes. Highly recommend checking out the cafe car: the menu is unique to the route and includes whoopie pies. I would also echo the recommendation of upgrading to business class.

Yikes, I didn't think about the business class and quiet cars changing position based on direction of travel. That will take a long time for passengers to get used to. It's pretty consistent across the board these days that station agents announce that they are the last two cars of the train...
