This is just hypothetical question. Lets say you are booked in sleeper with a connection and you miss a connecting train. Now if the only option following day is coach or bus, can you request to wait for more days till you get your sleeper? I guess in that case Amtrak wouldnt cover hotel...

You didnt mention how far you are traveling in Capitol Limited. In case there are other alternatives to your destination, rather than waiting a day in Chicago you can call the support and request your routing.

Do the agents (both at station and phone) treat paid and AGR reservation differently? I mean do paid reservation get priority over AGR reservation if the next days train has limited sleepers/seats.

Another ways to look at this and not just pure profit/loss. How much economic activity can the government generate from operation of these trains directly and indirectly to the cities it serve? How much $ does it cost to create a job? Govt often spends money to stimulate economic activity...

If I buy points and havent had paid travel in last 3 years am I at risk of losing the points? AGR rules say points expire after 3 years from last paid travel.
